What are heirloom crops

Heirloom crops are traditional seed crops that, unlike mass production, are not bred. These crops are stronger in flavor and more nutritious, continuing traditional flavors. Heirloom varieties are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, but overall mineral content is determined by soil quality rather than crop variety.

Traditional varieties of fruits and vegetables are small, hard and astringent. On the other hand, the fruits and vegetables that are currently produced in large numbers have been bred to produce large, soft, and sweet seeds. (*Which tastes better depends on your taste)

Many Heirloom varieties are said to have a sour taste.
